The Maine Port Authority and MaineDOT are funding a $3.2 million challenge to modernize the Worldwide Marine Terminal’s container yard, storage, and entry methods.
Development is underway on the Worldwide Marine Terminal on the Port of Portland in Maine.
The state Division of Transportation mentioned that the Maine Port Authority is advancing a $3.2-million Maritime Administration (Marad) Port Infrastructure Growth Program challenge supported by matching funds by MaineDOT to modernize Portland’s container yard, refrigerated-container storage, and terminal entry methods.
The challenge strikes IMT towards a better-connected, electrically supported refrigerated logistics platform: ship-to-yard, yard-to-cold retailer, and, the place a shipper’s community permits, rail or truck onward.
Work contains full-depth pavement reconstruction, improved stormwater drainage, enhanced security and security measures, and new bi-fold velocity gates at Gate 1. Development started on August 17, the DOT mentioned in a social media put up.
